Artist Statement

When I was younger I would often catch myself staring into the mirror dumbfounded by the idea that I was actually the person looking back at me. It just didn't make sense to me. Why am I experiencing reality through THIS physical body? Why am I so intrigued that I’ve experienced three dimensional reality through my own flesh and perception. Now that I’ve learned we are souls who chose to incarnate on earth through our material bodies I understand why my younger self would question this strange sensation. I make paintings because my higher mind urges me to do so. The same voice inside my head that questioned my existence in the mirror. It gives me an exciting idea and I have to say yes to it. It’s a devotion to my soul and no one else. I paint large scale for the rush of excitement and freedom, and the ability to surprise myself of what I am capable of. I explore the concept of the alien species because I believe we are all apart of it, whether we’re aware or not. Through the process of painting I become a channel for the divine and to ultimately uncover more of who I am. It’s a personal and enlightening process that I must keep working at.
